Having been compared to ‘an understated version of Self Esteem’ by Jake Peach from BBC Essex, MOCHUDI’s eclectic influences from Artist’s like Sault, BCUC, TM Juke, Anderson Paak, Romare, Tuneyards and Bakju highlight the fresh uplifting feel of her music whilst the undertones of her songwriting style have inspiration from legends such as Nina Simone, Mahalia Jackson, Big Mama Thornton, Billie Holiday and The Beatles.
MOCHUDI means to provide ‘soul-food’, which is the undulating thread weaved through all of her music. Her mission to uncover true authenticity and go back to her roots all began when she was instinctively drawn to learn guitar at the age of seven, being inspired by the raw dynamic presence of legend Janis Joplin. Years of songwriting later she is finally able to create the songs and express herself in the way she’s always dreamed of. Her travels across the world and life adventures have all led up to MOCHUDI the Artist being born.
